These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of Cook This Tonight mobile apps (iOS and Android) and the website at cookthis.co.uk. By downloading, accessing, or using the app or site, you agree to these Terms.
What Cook This Tonight is
Cook This Tonight is a utility that helps you turn recipe content you provide into a readable cook sheet with ingredients and steps, stored on your device. You can paste a caption, use the share sheet, or share/paste a link. When you share a link, the app may read that page’s public preview metadata (title, description, image) to fill the cook sheet — the same class of data used by messaging apps and Apple Notes for link cards. It is independent software and is not an official product of any social network or recipe publisher.
Independent status
Cook This Tonight is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to Instagram, Meta Platforms, Inc., or any recipe publisher. You are responsible for how you obtain and use recipe content in line with those services’ terms.
Licence to use
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app for your own non-commercial cooking, subject to these Terms and the rules of the App Store or Google Play from which you downloaded it.
Acceptable use
- Do not misuse the app, attempt to disrupt it, or reverse engineer it except where the law allows.
- Do not misuse the app to harvest or scrape third-party services beyond the public link-preview behaviour described in our Privacy Policy, or otherwise in breach of those services’ terms.
- Only share or paste content you have the right to use for your personal cooking purposes.
Content and accuracy
Cook sheets are generated from text you provide and, where you share a link, from public preview metadata, using automated parsing. Results may be incomplete or incorrect. Always use your own judgement for allergens, food safety, and cooking times. We do not guarantee that any recipe is safe or suitable for you.
Purchases
The current version of Cook This Tonight does not sell in-app purchases. If paid features are added later, prices will be shown in the store before you buy, and those purchases will be subject to Apple or Google store terms.
Privacy
How we handle information is described in our Privacy Policy. By using the app, you also acknowledge that policy.
Intellectual property
The Cook This Tonight name, logo, and app design are our intellectual property (or used under licence). Third-party names and marks belong to their respective owners and are used only for factual identification where needed.
Disclaimer
The app and website are provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of uninterrupted availability, accuracy, or fitness for a particular purpose — including any particular recipe outcome.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential losses arising from your use of the app or reliance on parsed recipe content. Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law (including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or fraud).
Changes
We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
